Its museum houses one of the finest art collections in the country, spanning five centuries and various European schools. The galleries offer a comprehensive journey through the history of art, from the Renaissance to the most contemporary trends of the 21st century, with outstanding works from Spanish, Italian, and Flemish masters.
Francisco de Goya maintained a close relationship with the Academy throughout his life. The institution preserves a remarkable set of paintings representing his different creative periods, along with a globally unique collection of his graphic work. To showcase this legacy, the Academy has created the Francisco de Goya Room, where visitors can admire the original copper plates of all his etching series —Los Caprichos, The Disasters of War, La Tauromaquia, and Los Disparates— most of which have recently been restored to their original condition.
Beyond safeguarding this extraordinary heritage, the Academy remains a vibrant cultural landmark in the heart of Madrid.
